I love a good quality surround sound system, not only for watching movies, but also for gaming. While many enjoy gaming at their desk, I tend to run an extended HDMI setup to my big screen so I can enjoy certain PC games from the comfort of my couch, and being able to play PC games and movies through a high-quality AV receiver and in 3D on a 46″ TV is one of the great joys of PC gaming and how versatile it can be.
So long as you have an Atmos compatible movie or game, of which I’m sure their aren’t many just yet, then the new Denon X4100W and the X5200W AV receivers are perfect for those of you who have a spare $1,399 or $1,999 burning a hole in their wallet. Featuring the new Dolby Atmos system, the new audio engine will push 7.1.2 channel surround; that’s seven point surround, with a sub and two overhead speakers!
4K video processing, AirPlay, DLNA, Atmos and just about every other high-end feature you can imagine is on offer here and while I personally couldn’t afford this AV receiver, I damn well know I want one!
Seems excessive now, but in a couple of years the tech will come down in price and you’ll be wondering how to used to game without an Atmos surround setup.
