It looks like another new graphics card is on the way from GALAX. The GALAX RTX 3060 Metaltop Mini (FG) 12GB certainly looks interesting, but it’s also got some added appeal thanks to the FG in its name. It stands for “For Gamers” and features the NVIDIA Lite Hash Rate (LHR) modifications. How much this will stop all the miners or even the scalpers remains to be seen though, it’s a tough market out there right now.
The Metaltop Mini is obviously a more compact design, which I love, as there are too many huge GPUs out there, and not enough for the HTPC and mini-ITX builders out there like myself. It’s actually the first Ampere based GPU from GALAX to feature a single fan design. However, it looks more than sufficient for the RTX 3060, and while the fan will cool things, it still has a zero RPM mode for when you need some silence.
The new card measures just 16.8 cm (length), 11.5 cm (width), and 4 cm (height). It features the same 12 GB GDDR6 memory and 192-bit bus of a standard RTX 3060. It even runs at the Nvidia reference clocks of 1,777 MHz Boost, meaning it only needs a single 8-pin power connector. There’s still 3 x DisplayPort and 1x HDMI connectors though, despite the compact size, which is nice.
Price has not been revealed, just that it’s coming soon on their website, so keep an eye out for it. I suspect this will sell out swiftly when they do launch it.
