GeForce RTX 5050 Laptop is 19% Faster Than RTX 4050 Laptop
The release of the GeForce RTX 5050 Laptop is imminent, and performance data has already started to leak. In Geekbench under OpenCL (thanks VideoCardz), the GeForce RTX 5050 Laptop is 19% faster than the GeForce RTX 4050 Laptop. This doesn’t mean it will be 19% faster in games, as game performance can vary greatly depending on each title and various other factors.
Technical Specifications and Memory Rumors
The GeForce RTX 5050 Laptop will feature 2,560 shaders, operating at speeds up to 2,407 MHz in turbo mode. It will also come with a 128-bit bus and 8 GB of GDDR6 or GDDR7 memory. The exact type of memory for this GPU has not been confirmed yet, but there are rumors suggesting it could use either of the two types, with listings indicating it may be configured with GDDR6.
There is still no certainty on this. NVIDIA could use either GDDR6 or GDDR7 memory for this graphics card, but since it is an entry-level model, it is most likely that they will go with GDDR6.
In addition to being 19% faster in Geekbench, the GeForce RTX 5050 Laptop will have other advantages over the GeForce RTX 4050 Laptop, including support for new technologies introduced with the Blackwell architecture, such as multi-generation frame support, and its greater amount of graphics memory (8 GB compared to 6 GB).
That 8 GB VRAM configuration in the GeForce RTX 5050 Laptop will be a significant improvement for playing current games without running into graphic memory shortages. In games where 6 GB of VRAM is insufficient, the GeForce RTX 5050 Laptop should outperform the RTX 4050 Laptop by a larger margin.
