German company Caseking has acquired Overclockers UK in a takeover

The large German computer hardware retailer Caseking have taken control of the British firm Overclockers. Overclockers UK have long been one of the biggest sellers of computer hardware in the UK alongside the likes of Ebuyer, Scan Computers International, Novatech and Aria PC. Overclockers UK have been around since 1999 and have their HQ up in Newcastle-under-lyme. The takeover deal affects 40 members of staff at Overclockers UK although nothing yet is known on what this deal will mean for Overclockers UK and its employees. The value of the deal has not been disclosed but it is estimated to be in the ‘less than €50 million’ region. The deal took place on February the 1st 2012 and both companies have kept relatively quiet about it.

Maybe now they will get decent customer support, people who work on the counter may actually know something about the hardware they are selling and also to top thing's off, maybe now they won't ban people who took something back that was faulty.

I got banned twice from there, once because I took my brother in law there to buy a pc and when there was faulty part's that we took back they said it wasn't faulty so after a week of driving back and to costing, me nearly £200 in fuel they refunded all the stuff he bought and banned us both.

Then about a year later I was allowed to buy from them again, so I bought a mobo, cpu and waterblock, had a faulty cpu or mobo and took them back only to get told that there was no problem even though I had a video showing the fault, where the cpu was overheating even under water and shutting the pc down, they said it wasn't faulty and when I asked to see it being tested the stuff was refunded and I was banned again.

Funny how they were happy to refund the supposed non faulty hardware and ban me, instead of just showing me it being tested and showing there was supposed to be no fault.

Funny thing for me was there was a few rep's from Gigabyte in there who were not impressed by OCUK and also a few customers who walked out when they saw how I was treated.

    • Buy from Scan, eBuyer, Dabs, or any others instead 🙂

I only buy from scan now won't go near OCUK anymore or Aria, as the manager that banned me and my brother in law the 1st time, left OCUK and went to Aria.

Not sure what his name was but, the reason I won't go there is because I showed him a picture of a card that was faulty and he said yep that's a faulty card so we took the card, back and he said it wasn't faulty unyet there was another bloke in the store with the same card with the same, fault and he swapped that one out straight away.

Not really interested in other shop's anymore as I get a far better service from Scan.

Bought 3 mobo's from them in the space of a week and they were all faulty, took them back and each was tested in front of me and each was swapped out within 1 hour of walking through the door, and when I chose a new board they connected it up and tested it and gave me a discount on it.

Will only recommend Scan, to people now as I have not used any other company since I started using them apart for Micro Direct which I only use if I need something on a Sunday, in emergency.

  8. ExOCUK says:

LOL OCUK is a rubbish company with rubbish customer service, and shockingly thick and inept staff.

I bought somethign from them ONCE, LOL, NEVER AGAIN.

Scan, Aria, Dabs, etc all wipe the floor with OCUK.

They are a ramshackle bunch of cowboys, no wonder Fat Spie is selling.

Not sure how ze Germans got conned into buying such a rubbish little company though.
