Gigabyte is officially announcing the Z370N WiFi Mini-ITX motherboard for Intel Coffee Lake 8th Generation processors. It actually upgrades certain things from the Z270N WiFi aside from the inherent Z370 updates. Most noticeable is the addition of more capable heatsinks on the VRM and on the M.2. The color is also now black so it is neutral against RGB LED lighting.
Despite the compact size, the Z370N WiFi features dual M.2 slots supporting PCIe3x4 and SATA interface devices. The one on the front has a heatsink so it can run at more optimal temperatures. Another one is available at the rear of the board. The rest of the storage options continue with four SATA3 6G ports along the right edge natively from the Z370 chipset. As for external storage support, there are 8x USB 3.1 Gen1 in total, 2x USB 2.0 via internal header and one USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-C at the rear IO.
The VRM uses a 4+2 phase design with an 8-pin power connector to feed the CPU for overclocking. It also has dual-BIOS support for redundancy. To maintain ideal system temperatures, the Z370N WiFi has three 4-pin PWM fan headers with customizable controls in sync with the onboard temperature sensors via Gigabyte Smart Fan 5.
In terms of network connectivity, it has dual Intel Gigabit LAN support with 802.11ac dual-band WiFi as well. As for audio connectivity, it uses a Realtek ALC1220 HD audio codec with three analog jacks available. Realtek ports are re-taskable anyway so in case you need to use these as multi-channel output or some of them as input, you can adjust it. There are also two HDMI 1.4 ports and one full-size DisplyPort 1.2 available for users who want to use the built-in Intel graphics.
As for RGB LEDs, the Z370N WiFi is just as capable as its full-size siblings. One header supports RGBW LEDs while one provides digital LED support.
It is not available on hand in stores yet, but the price when it comes out is £179.99. It would look great paired with the new Gigabyte GTX 1080 Mini video card.
