Gigabyte AORUS ELITE 1000W Platinum Power Supply Review

GIGABYTE recently introduced the AE1000PM PG5, a high-end power supply unit designed to meet the demands of modern, high-performance PC builds. This unit is built to the ATX 3.0 standard (and compatible with ATX 3.1), ensuring it’s ready for the most power-hungry components, and comes with full support for PCIe Gen 5.0 graphics cards. The AE1000PM PG5 boasts an impressive array of features designed to enhance performance, and its 80 PLUS Platinum certification guarantees exceptional efficiency. This is achieved in no small part thanks to the use of 100% high-quality Japanese capacitors throughout. Furthermore, its fully modular design and compact 140mm length simplify cable management and enhance compatibility, even with smaller chassis.
Gigabyte AORUS ELITE
The AE1000PM PG5 is ideally suited for enthusiasts and gamers looking to build or upgrade a high-end system where stability, efficiency, and future-proofing are paramount. Its capability to handle significant power excursions makes it perfect for systems featuring top-tier CPUs and the latest generation of powerful graphics cards, including those that demand up to 600W via the PCIe Gen 5.0 connector. With its comprehensive suite of protections and a powerful single +12V rail, this PSU provides a solid and reliable foundation for any demanding PC configuration, offering peace of mind and optimal performance for gaming, content creation, and professional workloads. Best of all, it comes backed by a 10-year warranty, showcasing GIGABYTE’s commitment to reliability and quality for the PC market.
Given that Gigabyte has had some bad press about power supplies in the past, albeit I dare argue just about every brand I can think of has had similar at one time or another, the ten-year warranty is very welcome. On paper, this PSU has nothing but the best components throughout, so I’m pretty confident they’re onto a winner here.

ICE
One thing I love about this PSU is that while the black version is poised to look excellent, it’s also available in white. Gigabyte call this their “ICE” version, and this should match up with other white components they produce, such as their ICE edition graphics cards, giving you a bit of extra choice when it comes to the aesthetics of your build. Of course, we’ll compare the prices of both versions towards the end of this review.
