Final Thoughts

How Much Does it Cost?

The Gigabyte RTX 2080 Ti Gaming OC is available now for £1099.99, which is obviously a lot of money. However, it’s also one of the most affordable RTX 2080 Ti cards on the market right now. The Zotac model can be as much as another £100, and it’s not like their 4K performance was that far apart. I expect this range will continue to be the most bang for buck for some time too.

Overview

I have very mixed feeling about this card, but I suspect that given a few weeks for the driver issues to mature, I will fall in love with it again. Let’s get one thing out of the way first, the 1080p performance is definitely way off. It’s not the GPU as far as I can tell, it’s an issue that lies between the drivers and card. We’ve tested other 2080 Ti cards and they were fine. However, you would expect 4K performance to also suffer, but that really wasn’t the case here. The card runs smooth, cool, quiet, and delivers fantastic 4K performance. So again, I’m mixed on how I feel about this. We’re planning a retest in the coming weeks, and I fully expect this glitch to iron its self out.

Performance

Without a doubt, this is a fast card, and it set pretty much all of our second highest scores to date in synthetic benchmarks. When it comes to 4K gaming, it’s an absolute beast of a card, and really gave a more expensive 2080 Ti model a run for its money too. Even with it being “cheaper”, it ran cool, quiet, and wasn’t overly wasteful on the power either. On top of that, it overclocked very nicely. We hit +125 MHz on the GPU and +600 on the memory, which is superb, although your mileage may vary of course.

Added Value

The RTX cards have more to offer than what we’ve seen here today. DirectX RT is only just launching, and developers are only just getting ready to unleash both Ray Tracing and DLSS features for their games. Good things come to those who wait, and the wait is almost over. If you want to learn more about these features, what they mean, what they do, and how they perform, check out our DLSS and RT feature here.

Should I Buy One?

If you’re after an RTX 2080 Ti card, you’re not going to get one any cheaper than this without some voodoo sacrifice. For that alone, this is the bargain to go for. 1080p issues aside, I don’t think they’re a fault with the card at all right now, this is a 4K gaming monster, it overclocks well, runs cool and quiet. What’s more, it’s £100 less than some of its rivals right now; that’s money you could be spending on new games and beer.
