CrystalDiskMark – Sequential Read
The laptop’s M.2 boot SSD isn’t a premium storage device and pales in comparison to NVMe alternatives. Despite this, the read speeds are more than good enough to load applications quickly and offer similar numbers to a traditional SATA desktop drive. On another note, the 2.5-inch mechanical read rate was excellent and enjoyed a good advantage over the MSI GE72VR 6RF Apache Pro. The USB 3.0 read speeds could be classified as acceptable and it’s clear that there’s room for improvement.
CrystalDiskMark – Sequential Write
When it comes to sequential write performance, the boot SSD struggles and cannot reach a modest 330MB/s. This is a shame but I’m not overly surprised because the SSD isn’t capable of extraordinary write speeds. The secondary mechanical drive reported a decent write rate while the USB 3.0 performance was within the area I’d expect.
