Gigabyte Revives the DDR4 Market With Three New Motherboards
Gigabyte has just introduced three new motherboards in Japan that support DDR4 memory, a decision driven by the high cost of motherboards compatible with DDR5 memory.
The lineup includes two models for AMD processors and one for Intel chips, aimed at users who want to build or upgrade their PCs while keeping to a tight budget.
High DDR5 Costs Push Gigabyte to Launch Three New DDR4 Motherboards
The most affordable model is the Gigabyte B450M H ARGB, designed for AMD’s AM4 socket. Compatible with processors from the Ryzen 3000 series up to the 5000G series, this micro-ATX motherboard has a 4+2-phase hybrid VRM, two DIMM slots supporting up to 64 GB of RAM at 2667 MHz, one PCIe x16 slot, and basic connectivity on the rear panel, including HDMI, DisplayPort, and Q-Flash Plus. Its launch price is 9,980 yen, or about $63.
For those who need more performance, there is also the Gigabyte B550 X EAGLE motherboard. This ATX option offers an 8+2-phase VRM with dedicated heatsinks, native PCIe 4.0 support for graphics cards and NVMe storage, and four RAM slots supporting up to 128 GB at 3200 MHz. It goes on sale for 19,500 yen, or approximately $123.
On the Intel side, the new model is the AORUS Shinryu Rin B760 Gen5 DDR4, aimed at Alder Lake, Raptor Lake, and Raptor Lake Refresh processors using the LGA 1700 socket. This micro-ATX motherboard stands out for its design inspired by the character Rin Kamitaka. It supports up to 128 GB of DDR4 at speeds of 5333 MHz, a main PCIe 5.0 x16 slot, Wi-Fi 6E connectivity, a 2.5 GbE LAN port, and Bluetooth 5.3. Its price reaches 26,800 yen, or about $170.
All three options will be available in Japanese stores during the first days of October, showing that DDR4 platforms remain a current and competitive option for entry-level and mid-range systems.
