Glasses free 3D laptop from Toshiba, a first!

The computer maker Toshiba has announced the first commercially available glasses free 3D capable laptop: the Qosmio F755.

The Qosmio F755 presents a breakthrough in 3D viewing by enabling the visualization of both 2D and 3D content simultaneously on the same display.

How it does it? The 15.6 inch full HD TriBite display with Active Lens technology is equipped with the latest auto-stereoscopic display technology, the double parallax image is able to project two sets of images at the same time, one for each eye, so the 3D effect comes to life. Simple really.

It is also equipped with the Face Tracking technology which helps project the best 3D imagery possible in relation to the position of the eyes of the person looking at the monitor.

This screen, as I said, is capable of displaying both 2D and 3D on the same screen, so you can have 2 windows open while one still being in 2D and the other in 3D, ingenious, isn’t it?

Included with this new feature is a Blu-Ray drive which is a requirement for 3D movies , but is it really? Well no, because Toshiba has also included their own Blu-Ray player, delivering a very simple conversion from 2D to 3D in a simple click.

But don’t be deceived by its “simple” look, for the Qosmio F755 packs the latest Intel Core i7 processor, a Nvidia GeForce G540M GPU, a 750GB HDD, an integrated Blu-ray rewritable drive, built-in Harman Kardon speakers and on top of that, a HDMI.

Now you can already tell that this won’t come cheap as the Qosmio F755, available starting August the 16th, will set you back $1699.99 MSRP, a price rather justified as it’s the only one of its kind.
