GOG Summer Sale – Our Pick From of the Masses of Great Gaming Deals on Offer!

There are many people, myself included, who have a lot of love for GOG.COM (Good Old Games). – Operating on a strict policy of no DRM, while perhaps not the best-known source for buying PC games online, I think it fair to say that if you’re in the market for some affordable gaming fun, they are always worth checking out! – And especially so right now!

Why? Well, with the launch of their Summer sales event, some great titles have some pretty huge discounts! – And better still, you can even grab a game for free right now!

GOG Summer Sale – Some Highlights to Consider!

As often is the case when an online portal launches a sale, we’ve done a little of the legwork for you to have a poke and highlight what we consider to be some of the best deals on offer. Remember this, this is only our opinion and merely a small slice of all the discounted options available!

Witcher 3 – Game of the Year Edition – £7.00

I don’t think I have to say too much about this one. Put simply, it’s one of the greatest ever made. Better still though, with the next-gen upgrade still planned to be made available for free (albeit with a questionable release date at the moment), buying this cheap now could pay huge rewards later!

PC Building Simulator – £5.99

This is a really great ‘game’ for people who want to learn how to build PCs and the inner workings of diagnosing faults, overclocking, and performing benchmarks. – No, in the grand scheme of things, there’s not much depth to this one, but hey, at least you can actually get new graphics cards in this virtual world!

Diablo + Hellfire Expansion – £6.39

Remember when Blizzard Entertainment used to make great games? Well, this arguably represents one of the best! – No, it doesn’t have the multiplayer functionality and overall QOL improvements that its sequel brought, but even today, Diablo 1 still holds up amazingly well and is well worth checking out!

Control Ultimate Edition – £10.49

A pretty amazing title both in terms of gameplay and visuals. The only stumbling block most have is that Control is not easy. In fact, it’s outright bloody difficult at times. For just over £10 though, that’s not much money for a hell of a lot of challenge!

Deus Ex – Mankind Divided – £4.99

A great game that unfortunately suffered from some of the blandest and most boring boss fights ever. – Putting that to one side though, this was still an excellent title and at this price, if you haven’t played it yet then you simply can’t lose here!

Metal Gear Solid – £5.09

Again, this title is so well known that I don’t think this one needs any kind of description. – The recent PC re-release of this title did, however, bring about a lot of quality of life improvements including much better controller support. With the VR mission expansion included to, you’re going to have a lot of fun going back to Shadow Moses again!

Biomutant – £18.19

I’m going to admit that I did somewhat struggle as to whether I should mention this one or not. Overall, Biomutant wasn’t a very good game. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t bad, but in terms of what it offered, well, there’s very little new here. – Overall, it suffers from a semi-triumph of style over substance. – Available for just £18.19, however, (discounted down from £54.99) this is the cheapest I’ve ever seen this title and if you’ve been waiting to pull the trigger, now might be the time to act!

Metro Exodus – Gold Edition – £12.99

I’m predominantly mentioning this one because it’s the updated version which includes full support for ray tracing. Regardless of your opinion of the game itself (which is still very good!), with a built-in benchmarking tool, this is an amazing yardstick to measure your PC’s performance.

Full Throttled Remastered – £3.29

Kick Wall… Kick Wall… Kick Wall… – Full Throttled Remastered isn’t a very long game. In fact, with the right knowledge, you could probably stroll through this within a couple of hours. It is, however, hard to deny that this was one of the most iconic Lucasarts games of all time, and with a modern coat of graphical paint, there’s a lot of nostalgic fun to be had here!

Day of the Tentacle Remastered – £3.29

The same kind of deal as Full Throttle really, except Day of the Tentacle will probably take you a fair while longer to complete since it’s a lot more elaborate. – Ron Gilbert is at his (non-Monkey Island) finest here!

Dungeon Keeper 2 – £1.19

No, this isn’t a new game, nor has it received any kind of modern update. In terms of gameplay though, this is one of the finest editions this sorely underused franchise has ever seen! – Ignore that garbage pay to win mobile game and check this out instead!

Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishment – £5.00

An almost (ironically) criminally unknown and/or underplayed game here! – I admit, I’m biased as I have a lot of love for the Sherlock Holmes character. If you really want a solid and genuinely homage to the original victorian character, however, then this is 100% it! – I honestly can’t recommend this one enough!

Rimworld – £25.09

Rimworld is an amazing game and like FTL (Faster Than Light) it is designed more to punish you than it is to reward. You are, quite literally, only ever one bad RNG event away from disaster. When things do work out though, it’s incredibly satisfying! – No, with just 10% off the price, this isn’t a huge discount, but trust me when I say that (to my knowledge) this title has never been discounted on Steam (currently at £27.79).

Alien Isolation – £11.29

Quite possibly one of the scariest games I’ve ever played. And no, that’s not an exaggeration. – Admittedly, playing through this (for me) was quite hard. Not just because it can be very difficult at times, but mostly because I’m not ‘good’ with horror games. – For £11.29 though, if this doesn’t cure your constipation, nothing will!

Huniepop 1 – £1.39 – Huniepop 2 – £9.29 – NSFW!!!!

Erm… yeah. These two games are discounted too. – I shall make no judgements of you! – Just, you know, maybe don’t open these links up while you’re at work… Or on a very crowded bus. – And no, I’m not embedding the trailer for either in this article!

And a Free Game to Cap Things Off!

If these deals from GOG were not enough to tempt you, then how about a free game? – Sanitarium isn’t new. In fact, it’s nearly 25-years-old. Seeing it available for free, however, has really got my nostalgia flowing. – I remember playing this a long time ago and for an immersive horror game in the style of Diablo, this is definitely worth a look (click here for more info!) – Hey, it’s free after all!

As noted above though, what we’ve listed here is merely just a small taste of what’s on offer. – If you do, therefore, want to learn more, you can visit the official GOG Sale Event website via the link here!

What do you think though? What do you think is the best standout deal in the GOG Summer Sale? – Let us know in the comments!
