Google to launch the AI impact challenge.
Artificial intelligence (or AI) is a relatively controversial topic nowadays. While some push for its research and development, other giants such as Elon Musk urge caution and have even expressed their fear of AI publicly. It looks like Google wants to solve the problems associated with AI, or at least help out the people who are looking to solve them. The tech giant will soon launch its AI Impact Challenge, which will reward groups who discover or solve AI problems with significant grants. The money comes from a $25 million pool, which means that potential earnings are substantial.
Will there be any coaching involved?
Quite a bit of it, actually. Google will try to help out the interested parties by organizing coaching sessions hosted by its own internal AI pros. Groups will also receive free credits and consulting for Google’s Cloud services. Various other resources will also be provided in order to put everyone up to speed. The groups in question will receive information on what problems require solving right now, so they will know exactly what to focus on. The best part is that Google claims you don’t have to be an AI expert in order to participate. We’re definitely looking forward to seeing the long-term results of this challenge, and we’ll keep you in the loop as we find out more.
