During NVIDIA’s initial reveal of the GTX 10 series, they discussed the architecture’s overclocking headroom and ability to reach 2.1GHz without too much difficulty. Even though many chips can achieve 2.1GHz, the overclocking isn’t as substantial as previously thought. Despite this, Pascal still provides the highest GPU frequencies on record and there is a constant battle to set a new world record. Rather impressively, the GALAXY GTX 1060 HOF GOC was recently overclocked to a whopping 2885MHz by the Greek overclocker “FireKillerGR”. This is a massive enhancement from the product’s default 1847MHz boost clock and a brand new world record. Also, the memory was overclocked to 10.5GHz while the bench’s CPU, an i7-6700K ran at 6GHz.
As you might expect, the GPU was tested throughout a number of programs to determine the overclock’s stability and showcase the performance results. While running the 3DMark Time Spy benchmark, the GPU reported a score of 6349. This is a very impressive result and a fantastic boost over the standard model. Of course, the GALAXY GTX 1060 HOF GOC is designed with LN2 in mind and has extremely high-end circuitry. This aided the overclocking process and it’s quite common for HOF cards to be at the forefront of world records. The final 2885MHz figure is unbelievable and I’m wondering if the 3GHz mark will be broken anytime soon.
