Grounded 2 Confirmed for PS5, Release Date Still a Mystery

PlayStation fans have a reason to celebrate — Grounded 2 is officially on its way to PS5. However, one major mystery still lingers: when will it actually arrive?

Developed by Obsidian, the studio best known for its open-world RPGs, Grounded first launched in 2020 with a completely different approach — a first-person survival game set in a miniature world, designed for cooperative play. The unique concept was a huge success, winning praise from critics and millions of players alike. Naturally, it wasn’t long before a sequel was greenlit.

Grounded 2 officially launched on July 29, 2025, for Xbox and PC. At that time, there was no PS5 version, though most players expected one to follow later — especially since the first game eventually came to Sony’s console. Now, after several months, the news is official: Grounded 2 will indeed arrive on PS5, as confirmed during the recent New Game+ Showcase event.

New Content and Features Coming Soon

Along with the PlayStation announcement, Obsidian revealed a major update packed with fresh content. The expansion introduces:

  • A new biome in Brookhollow Park – the community garden
  • New creatures
  • New weapons and armors
  • New building materials – including the return of mushroom bricks
  • A new buggy: the ladybug!

However, despite all the excitement, the studio did not provide a specific release date for either the update or the PS5 version. It’s likely that the PlayStation release will come shortly after this big content patch goes live.

While we still don’t know exactly when Grounded 2 will land on PS5, fans can expect it sometime after the upcoming update. There’s no firm timeline yet, but given Obsidian’s momentum, it shouldn’t be too long.

This move is another clear example of Xbox’s evolving strategy — more of its exclusive titles are slowly making their way to PlayStation platforms. Whether it’s a sign of broader collaboration or simply a smart business decision, it’s a change that benefits players everywhere.
