GTA 5 Enhanced PC Version vs. Legacy: Key Differences Revealed in New Video
Taking advantage of the launch of the free upgrade for the PC version of GTA 5, ElAnalistaDeBits has published a video comparing the new Enhanced version with the classic version, which Rockstar Games has renamed as Legacy.
The video highlights the technical improvements made by the developers, some of which were previously exclusive to the PS5 and Xbox Series X and S versions of the game. The major new features include the addition of ray tracing for ambient occlusion, global lighting, shadows, and reflections. Additionally, this version now supports FSR1, FSR 3, and NVIDIA DLSS 3.
Other New Features in GTA 5 Enhanced
The improvements don’t stop there. On the technical side, we also see faster loading times with SSD and DirectStorage support, DualSense controller support, Dolby Atmos for sound, and enhanced support for higher resolutions, aspect ratios, and frame rates. On top of this, there are also new content and features for GTA Online.
However, not everything is perfect despite these upgrades. On Steam, about half of the user reviews are currently negative. Many players are reporting worse performance compared to what they expect from the graphic upgrades, along with stability issues, crashes, and bugs. Some players are also unable to transfer their GTA Online character from the old version to the new one, fearing they might lose years of progress.
GTA 5 Enhanced is available as a free update for all owners of the game. This version is also available for purchase at the price of $29.99, which includes GTA 5 Legacy – the same game, but without the upgrade. This version naturally requires a more powerful PC setup to play.
