GTA 6 Could Face Another Delay as Game Content Reportedly Still Incomplete
Jason Schreier, a Bloomberg journalist and one of the most reliable insiders in the gaming industry, has recently shared updates about the development status of GTA 6. His latest comments may worry fans eagerly awaiting Rockstar Games’ next major release.
According to Schreier’s sources, the game’s content is still not complete. Developers are reportedly deciding what features and missions will make it into the final version and what will be cut. He explained that, as of now, nobody at Rockstar Games can confidently guarantee the announced release date of November 19, leaving the door open for another possible delay.
A Release Date That Seems Realistic, But Not Certain
“The last I heard, it was still not content complete,” Schreier said during the latest episode of the Button Mash podcast. “People were still finishing things up, finalizing levels, missions, and deciding what’s going to make it into the final game.”
He further explained that predicting whether Rockstar will meet the planned release date is difficult, as even the studio’s own team may not be entirely certain about it at this stage. However, he also pointed out that the November release window appears to be more realistic compared to earlier internal projections.
According to Schreier, Rockstar is aiming for an extremely high level of quality and has never hesitated to delay its games to achieve that standard. Fortunately, the studio has some flexibility. The fiscal year of its parent company, Take-Two Interactive, ends on March 31, 2027. This means that even if GTA 6 were delayed by several months, it could still be released within the fiscal year — minimizing any major impact on the company’s financial projections.
Schreier, who has proven multiple times to have strong connections within several development studios, likely has contacts inside Rockstar as well. However, he cautions fans not to take this information as absolute truth. Until official announcements are made, it’s best to remain cautious.
In other news, a former Rockstar Games employee unknowingly leaked 20 seconds of real GTA 6 gameplay in his online portfolio. The video stayed public for over two months before fans finally discovered it.
