GTA 6 Delay Was Planned From the Start, According to a New Fan Theory

GTA 6

At first, GTA 6 was expected in 2025, then moved to May 2026, and finally pushed to the new official date in November. This latest delay has once again sparked discussion online, especially on Reddit, where a new fan theory has quickly gained attention.

The “177 Days” Theory Explained

The theory, known as the “177 days theory,” is based on a numerical coincidence noticed by fans. Between the third trailer of Red Dead Redemption 2 and its release, exactly 177 days passed. Interestingly, the same number of days now separates the previous GTA 6 release date (May 26, 2026) from the new November launch window.

From this, some fans believe Rockstar is following a precise plan and that May 26 could be reserved for a major announcement, possibly the third GTA 6 trailer. To support this idea, they point to Take-Two’s financial reports, which mention marketing activity starting in the summer.

There is, however, no official confirmation supporting this theory. Like many before it, it should be taken with caution. The GTA 6 community has a long history of theories that later turned out to be completely wrong.

The most realistic answer to the question “Why has Rockstar delayed GTA 6 multiple times?” remains the same: to further polish the game ahead of release, as also suggested by several internal sources in recent months.

Put simply, if fans were to come up with a new theory for every remaining day until launch, at least one would eventually be correct. That alone would not make it any less absurd.

In other news, Take-Two has officially confirmed that GTA 6 is being developed without the use of generative AI.
