GTA Online Will Continue to Be Supported Even After GTA 6 Launches
During a recent financial call, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick confirmed that Rockstar Games will continue to support GTA Online even after the release of Grand Theft Auto 6. While this may not come as a big surprise, his comments still help clarify the publisher’s position.
Zelnick also explained that Take-Two generally avoids interfering with Rockstar when it comes to creative decisions, leaving the studio free to manage its games and long-term strategies.
What Take-Two’s CEO Said About GTA Online
“Look, Rockstar Games is the locus of information about, you know, where the titles go content and marketing, and generally, we have a pretty light touch when we talk about the label’s creative activities,” Zelnick said.
“At the same time, I have every reason to believe we’ll continue to support GTA Online. There’s a great community that loves it, that stays engaged. And again in this quarter, Rockstar has shown that when you deliver great additional content, despite how long [GTA Online] has been at market, people show up.”
In general, Take-Two is willing to keep supporting online games as long as they maintain a strong player base. The big question now is how GTA 6’s online component will be handled.
Will it be a completely separate experience from the current GTA Online? Could new features or exclusive content be limited to players who own GTA 6? At the moment, there are no clear answers, and it will likely take more time before Rockstar shares more details.
For now, one thing seems certain: GTA Online is not going anywhere anytime soon, even after the launch of GTA 6.
In related news, Take-Two Interactive has confirmed that the marketing campaign for GTA 6 will commence in summer 2026.
