GTA V Passes $1 Billion Sales Mark In 3 Days

Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto V has already passed $1 billion in sales, cranking up that impressive figure in around 3 days, Reuters reports. This makes Grand Theft Auto V the fastest selling entertainment product ever according to Rockstar Games’ owners Take Two Interactive. $800 million of those sales came on the first day, while the other $200 million gushed in over the course of the second and third days.

GTA V is reported to have taken 5 years to develop at a cost of $200 to $250 million. Activision Blizzard’s Call Of Duty Black Ops II title took nearly 15 days to reach the same $1 billion marker managing $500 million on launch day. GTA V is currently only available on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, the two platforms have nearly 160 million users meaning Rockstar Games still has a huge target market. Of course GTA V is expected to be made available soon on next generation consoles and hopefully even the PC opening up Rockstar Games to even more potential buyers.
