The latest rumour-mill for the GTX 680 has produced some interesting benchmark results. Suggesting that the GTX 680 flattens the HD 7970 in every single test. The big BUT here is questions of clock speeds, the GTX 680 is expected to debut with a 705MHz clock speed and yet the testing brings results with a 1050MHz clock speed meaning that either Nvidia has raised the reference clock significantly or this card is being benchmarked at overclocked speeds. Meaning this is a comparison of an overclocked GTX 680 against a stock HD 7970, by no means a fair test at all as we know the HD 7970 overclocks like a dream too.
We don’t think this data is 100% reliable, as there are too many potential points of error and discrepancies within it. So take it with a pinch of salt, but if it is true, things certainly look quite good for Nvidia.
