H1Z1 Hosts Free-to-Play Week Starting December 14

H1Z1 is a fast paced, competitive, battle royale, Early Access shooter on Steam. It made its debut on February 2016, and has remained consistently within the top 20 games on Steam. It has a peak player count of 150,179, which is pretty good for an Early Access game (with the exception of PlayerUnknown’s BattleGrounds of course). Now developer Daybreak Games wants to raise those numbers up even further. Using none  other than the tried and tested method of a “free-to-play” week.

The game normally costs £14.99 (€19.99) on Steam. Which is not much, but it is enough for some players to reconsider since it is an Early Access title. Early Access means is just a fancier way of saying beta but they want you to pay for it after all. So it could have some bugs and some features are still in progress. Then again, considering how many people complain about PUBG’s optimization, how bad can it really be?

The free-to-play week starts on Thursday December 14th at 10am PST. It will last until Thursday December 21st 10am PST. The free trial will let players have access to the full H1Z1 game. That means they can play solos, duos, fives, Combat Zone, and everything else present in the full version. Moreover, whatever progress is made during the free week can carry on if the user purchases the game.

H1Z1 is also celebrating the holidays with Wreck the Halls! Throughout the month of December, players have the chance to obtain a four-piece holiday-themed outfit across multiple in-game events. To win a piece of the ensemble, players must finish 30th or better in any holiday event match.

Simply head sign on to Steam and download the game for free once the event begins.
