Hades 2 Includes 50% More Dialogue Than the First Game

If you think Hades 2 feels even bigger than the first game, you’re absolutely right — it includes 50% more dialogue lines than the original title.

Like the first game, Hades 2 is a roguelite, a genre that usually doesn’t focus heavily on story since players often replay the same areas over and over. However, the Hades series stands out because it makes storytelling a core part of the experience, using the “loop” of repeated runs to build its narrative.

To achieve this, the developers had to include an enormous amount of dialogue.

In an interview with GamesRadar+, creative director Greg Kasavin discussed whether any planned story content had been cut from Hades 2. He said: “Hades 2, like the original, is a game that can technically be played forever, so I can understand the desire for it to include even more story!”

To keep the story meaningful across countless runs, Supergiant Games gave each character plenty of dialogue.

“The game has a script of more than 400,000 words, and more than 30,000 voice lines — around 50% more than the original game,” Kasavin revealed. “That includes every major detail we wanted to include for our cast of characters.”

When asked specifically about the characters Haracles and Prometheus, Kasavin added: “if you haven’t yet reached the game’s epilogue and continued encountering them sometime after that, then it’s likely you haven’t seen all they have to say or what other characters may have to say about them.”

In short, there are still many lines of dialogue waiting to be discovered. So, keep playing — there’s more story than you might expect.

Hades 2 was launched in September 2025 and is currently available on PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store) and Nintendo Switch 1 and 2.
