We learnt earlier this year that Netflix was planning to make a live-action TV series based on the Witcher game (and comic book) series. One of the earliest matters of speculation was who would take on the iconic role of Geralt (the main protagonist). Last month we learnt that the role would be going to former Superman actor Henry Cavill.
It was an appointment that was largely met with approval.
Following an official Twitter post from Netflix though, we finally have our first glimpse of him in the actual role!
With it being no more than a teaser trailer, we see him approach the camera, give us a somewhat sultry look and then take a swig of a potion. Yes, it’s very firmly just a teaser. In terms of the ‘look’ though, Henry Cavill does seem to fit the bill rather nicely. It will, of course, be curious to see where he goes in terms of his voice acting. Doug Cockle’s performance in the game gives us a rather gravely tone. That being said though, Henry Cavill is not only a massive fan of The Witcher but also various games in general. As such, he’ll likely have a pretty solid idea how he wants to do the character.
The Witcher Netflix series will release in 2019.
