HighPoint’s latest USB 3.0 HBA promises better performance with their RocketU 1144AR USB 3.0 RAID HBA.
With its total of four USB 3.0 port with dedicated speeds of 5Gbps each, the entirety of it will produce speeds of up to 20Gbps, this is aimed principally on USB RAID setups with support for 0, 1, 5, 10 and JBOD.
With conventional USB 3.0 & RAID cards restricting performance with limited bandwidth, today’s latest technology easily see themselves bottlenecked, but HighPoint’s innovative HBA is here to prevent it, representing the industry’s most effective, high performance external USB 3.0 storage solutions.
Connected through a PCI-Express 2.0 x4 slot, RocketU’s instinctive web-based management interface will make the configuration of RAID arrays a quick and easy task.
While you may wonder what use this may give you, well it’s rather simple, with today’s USB 3.0 external devices being considerably slower than their SATA III counterpart, a quick configuration in RAID 0 of two or more will see its speed increased allowing for faster external devices. Keep in mind you can also setup different types of RAID, so it’s up you to decide which fits your needs best.
Compatibility as been noted, the older PCI-E 1.0 is supported (x4,x8 and x16), and the USB 3.0 is backward compatible with USB 1.1 and 2.0 as well.
Yet announced as being already available world-wide, the RocketU 1144AR HBA hasn’t been given any price.
