Hogwarts Legacy for Nintendo Switch 2 Will Use Next-Generation Assets
The developers at Avalanche Software have announced that Hogwarts Legacy for Nintendo Switch 2 will use next-generation assets, the same ones seen on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
This means it won’t be just a simple conversion from the Nintendo Switch version. Instead, it will offer a renewed technical experience, in line with the features available on the latest generation platforms.
A More Complex Approach Than Simply Converting
The first decision the development team had to make was how to proceed. While converting from the Nintendo Switch version would have been easier and faster, the studio chose a more complex but satisfying path.
“We felt like we could recreate our world better by starting with next-generation assets, and we’re really that we were able to deliver that,” said Rob Nelson, VP of Technology at Avalanche Software.
Significant Visual Improvements
As you may remember, Hogwarts Legacy on Nintendo Switch made a lot of compromises in terms of resolution, frame rate, special effects, and asset quality. This was a situation the developers wanted to move past with the arrival of the new Nintendo console.
In addition to making the game look much better on Nintendo Switch 2, the team at Avalanche Software has also added motion controls for combat and flying phases.
The game also supports mouse controls and touchscreen features for easier navigation of the interface and its many menus, making it more user-friendly and intuitive.
