Hollow Knight: Silksong Has Attracted a Huge Number of Players, But Not All Copies Are Sold

According to Alinea Analytics, Hollow Knight: Silksong has been downloaded 6 million times across PC and consoles. What makes this more interesting is that Silksong is already performing better than the first game.

It is worth remembering that the first Hollow Knight sold more than 15 million units, but it took a long time to reach that milestone. Silksong, on the other hand, is moving at a much faster pace, though there is one important detail to keep in mind.

Silksong’s Download Bumbers

Hollow Knight: Silksong Has Attracted a Huge Number of Players, But Not All Copies Are Sold

Rhys Elliott of Alinea Analytics explained in a September report that Silksong is the third most downloaded game, with 6.4 million units. It ranks below EA Sports FC 26 (second place) and Skate (first place).

However, there is a catch with Alinea’s numbers, which the company itself points out: these are downloads, not direct sales. This matters because Team Cherry’s game is also available on Game Pass. In fact, downloads on Xbox are reported to be three times higher than on PlayStation, where the game is only available through purchases.

In the end, what truly matters is Steam, where the game has already sold 4 million copies. Of course, these are still estimates, and every company tracks numbers differently. Some sources even suggest that more than 6 million copies may have been sold just on Valve’s platform.

One thing is certain: the results are positive for Silksong. With future updates and possibly DLCs, the game could easily continue to attract players for many years.
