No matter how well Don Draper was able to wax lyrical about them, slide shows are all too often a tedious exposure to other people’s mundane memories, but do you know what makes holiday snaps and baby photos infinitely more interesting? Holograms! At least, that’s what startup H+ is counting on, with its innovative display unit that turns 2D digital photos into 3D holographic recreations. The Holus is a tabletop holographic projector that is currently seeking funding on Kickstarter.
As the product is described on Kickstarter:
“Holus is a tabletop holographic platform that converts any digital content from a computer, tablet or smartphone into a 3D hologram. To put it simply, whether it is a board game, DNA structure or the solar system, your content comes alive – view it from four different angles and interact with it in ways that have never been possible.”
A pledge of at least $550 will guarantee you a Holus Home Edition when the first shipments are released in July 2016, while $650 will get you a Holus Pro (or would have, had they not all been snapped up already). The Pro model includes an HDMI port and a software development kit, both features that are absent from the home edition.
Holus has already exceeded its $50,000 Kickstarter pledge goal, raising $71,505 (at the time of writing) in just a day.
