Battery lifetime has been a minor battle with today’s products, certainly with most gamers favouring cabled versions to wireless, although HP seems to have put its name down for the crown of battery life mastery.
Hewlett-Packard has indeed recently released two mice that claim to have battery life up to and exceeding two years.
The first one is the HP X4000 Wireless Laser Mouse featuring a high-end design similar to that of sports cars, as well as an ambidextrous design. It connects to the receiver through a 2.4GHz spectrum and is equipped with a 1600 DPI laser sensor. Battery life is said to be up to 30 months.
The second is the HP X5000, with a similar design, it features the same laser sensor as its counterpart (1600 DPI) but has a touch-sensitive scroll wheel and a LED indicator. Battery life is ‘only’ 24 months.
Here is a little trailer that seems to come out of a technological action movie ( kind of like Tron if you ask me):
Available now, the HP X4000 and X5000 are priced at approximately $30 and $40 respectively.
