It is generally known the HTC have struggled in the past few years with turning profit and it has lost a lot of its smartphone business to the likes of Samsung and other Android smartphone vendors. Yet with the HTC One they seem to have turned a corner and have managed to ship nearly 5 million of the HTC One smartphones, according to Android Central, so far despite encountering some supply issues for the first month.
While this is hardly on par with Samsung selling nearly 10 million Galaxy S4 units in under a month, it is still a lot better than HTC have done for a while. I think this just goes to show that any company can sell big if they make a nice enough phone. The HTC One is a well respected smartphone with a particular selling point being the sturdy build quality from aluminium construction.
Whether you like HTC or not their turnaround is going to be vital to keeping competition active in the Android smartphone market, now the HTC product design team have the mammoth task of replicating the same success in the low and mid range market segments of the smartphone market.
What are your thoughts on HTC’s One? Are you one of the 5 million owners?
