HyperX CloudX Pro Gaming Headset Review

Final Thoughts

Price

The HyperX CloudX Pro Gaming Headset is available from most major retailers for around £80. We found it in stock at Amazon for £74.99, which isn’t cheap, but is certainly reflective of the acoustic performance and overall build quality on offer.

Overview

With more and more games coming with support for Xbox One and PC gameplay, such as the new Gears of War, there is an increasing number of gamers playing on both formats. Having a headset that feels right at home on both console and PC means you only need one headset for both devices, and that’s obviously a huge benefit.

The standard 3.5mm connection of the CloudX also means that it’s compatible with just about everything on the market. Hook it up to your phone, you can use it for music and calls, it’ll plug into your PS4 controller, your MP3 player, tablet, and just about anything else. This is great, as the headset is stylish enough to be suitable for using for your commute to work as it is at an eSports tournament.

The build quality is as good as you could expect from a headset, with durable metal and heavy-duty plastics throughout. The cables are covered with a thick braiding and the leather and cloth materials are very nicely finished too, giving the headset a premium quality look and feel that is sure to last. Of course, proper care of your headset will extend its lifetime even further, so the inclusion of a protective hard case is a very welcome addition to the CloudX.

Pros

  • Crystal clear sound
  • Durable build quality
  • Hard case included
  • Multi-format support
  • Braided cables
  • Detachable microphone
  • Interchangeable ear pads

Cons

  • None

Neutral

  • Better suited to chat/gaming that music, music lovers may still prefer dedicated headphones around the same price range
  • In-line controller is quite basic, but still a welcome addition

“If you’re looking for a power multi-format gaming headset, with a good quality microphone for online multiplayer gaming, you’ll struggle to find anything better than the CloudX for equal or less money. Just like the Cloud headsets that came before it, the latest from HyperX is one of the best gaming headsets on the market today.”
