HyperX Using Their Own Switches on Alloy Origins Keyboard

HyperX Alloy Origins

While HyperX aren’t the first to go custom when it comes to switch design, I certainly welcome a new player in the market. Cherry, Kailh, Razer, Logitech, Creative, they’ve all got something of their own. Now with the new Alloy Origins, HyperX has tweaked their red switches for a lower actuation point and travel distance. Now the actuation is just 1.8mm, and the travel is just 3.8mm, shorter than an MX Red.

The keyboard feels pretty slick to type on, light and fast to use, and not all that unlike an MX Silver/Speed switch actually.

The keyboard its self looks great though, with a slim aluminium frame keeping it neat and tidy. There’s also a detachable wrist rest option, full RGB lighting, and all the usual bells and whistles.

There’s also the option of their new pudding key caps. They’re double shot with a frosted side and a capped top. This allows a lot more edge lighting from the keys themselves. It’s a neat design, and one I hope to see more of in the future.

At just $109.99, it’s not too expensive either, and it’ll hit the market in Q3 this year.
