A Closer Look

Out of the box, the HYTE Eclipse HG10 looks fantastic and especially so with its bright white aesthetic. Although not overly weighty in the hand, it has a nice ‘solid’ feel about it that suggests that this should easily handle the rigours of long (and potentially sweaty) gaming sessions. – Before we get onto the performance though, let’s take a closer look at some of the key components within the design.

Aesthetically speaking, the HYTE Eclipse HG10 predominantly takes a minimalistic clean approach. This isn’t emblazoned with brash logos or ARGB lighting. It has an almost professional feel to suit all gamers or dare I say, people at work.

The HYTE logo is lightly embossed into the outer half-moon ear cup section and is offset well against the silver attachments which allow a fold so the headset can sit flat (for easier storage).

And just in case you have a problem telling your left from your right, they are also annotated to denote which cup is supposed to go over which ear. I mean, I presume L means left…

The earcups also feature the HYTE logo on the front edge. It’s a small touch, and again one that adds to the overall understated nature of the gaming headset. Aesthetically though, it definitely adds another nice little touch to the overall design.

The earcups themselves are made of a nicely cushioned ‘vegan leather’ material. What is vegan leather? I have no idea. Honestly, it sounds like a bit of a contradiction to me. – I think, however, that this is just a bit of a creative marketing term for pleather. – It doesn’t feel cheap or nasty though. It genuinely does have a leathery feel to it while, of course, ensuring that no cows were harmed during the making of this headset.

The main controls for the HYTE Eclipse HG10 are on the L/H/S earcup and comprise of the on/off button, the microphone input port, manual volume control, and an LED light which indicates both a charging and connected status.

The R/H/S earcup simply features a manual mute setting for the microphone as well as an LED light indicator to tell you if the mic is on or not.

The headband again utilises the ‘vegan leather’, and, like the earcups, is nice and soft. We will, of course, detail the practicality and functionality of this design later. With the adjustable length, however, the HYTE Eclipse HG10 was easily able to accommodate my unusually fat head as well as my wife’s relatively shrunken one!

Overall, the HYTE Eclipse HG10 presents itself excellently as a sleek and clean gaming headset. I actually rather like the fact that HYTE has kept things simple as not everyone wants, needs, or requires something that could potentially flag down commercial aircraft from 30,000 feet in the sky! – Some people just want a sleek and simple design that works, and works well. And in this regard, the HYTE Eclipse HG10 certainly seems to be ticking the right boxes.
