I-O Data presents a new BDXL-capable portable Blu-ray burner

I-O Data, a Japanese company, has recently revealed their latest portable Blu-ray drive, the BRP-U6XE.

Not only does it supports today’s standard BD format, it also supports the new BDXL format, allowing for discs capable of up to 100GB of capacity.

This new product measures 137x154x20mm and connects to your PC through a built-in retractable USB 2.0 cable. Included with the BRP are Corel WinDVD DB3D and Nero Express Essentials.

It’s burning capabilities are as follows:

  • Single & double layer BD-R at 6X;
  • Triple & quadruple layer BD-R (BDXL) at 4X;
  • BD-RE at 2X;
  • DVD-R/+R & DVD+RW at 8X;
  • DVD-R/+R double-layer & DVD-RW at 6X;
  • DVD-RAM at 5X;
  • CD-R at 24X;
  • CD-RW at 16X.

The BRP-U6XE comes with a one-year warranty for a price of approximately $233.
