With just a few days remaining until the official launch of the Nvidia Geforce GTX 9xx series, even more information has leaked about the new flagship GTX 980 graphics card. A collection of new images have found their way online and while they don’t detail any of the hardware specifications, they do give away a lot of information about the cards design and expected performance.
The new card will adopt the cooler design of the GTX TITAN/780/780Ti; which is capable of dissipating up to 250W of power. Given that the GTX 980 is only expected to peak at 180W of power, the cooler should leave us with plenty of overclocking headroom. The general design isn’t anything revolutionary for Nvidia, as it does look very similar to current Nvidia offerings; it even features the same backplate as the GeForce Titan-Z.
The card features 2 x 6pin power connectors on the side, and DVI, HDMI and three DisplayPorts at the back. It is rumoured that the card will feature support for HDMI 2.0, but it’s impossible to tell if this is true at this time. The graphics card also features the new Maxwell GM204 GPU core, which is based on a 28nm design.
