The Inateck HB4009 USB 3.0 3-port hub with Magic Port does cost a bit more than the average USB hub, but you also get a lot more functionality. At the time of writing the HB4009 can be had for $29.99, £25.99, or €29.99 at Amazon in the US, UK, and Germany respectively.

Conclusion

Inateck once again created a product that looks like any other on the surface, but it hides so much more under the surface in the form of functionality. You get a basic looking grey 3-port USB 3.0 hub to help alleviate the onboard port restrictions you might have. This is especially the case with mobile devices such as ultrabooks and netbooks, but I myself always have too few USB ports on my main system. I’d be lost without a hub here and there.

Inateck’s HB4009 is so much more than just a USB hub with a single connection. On the end, it features the Magic Port that allows you to connect the hub to a second system, may it be Windows, Android, or Mac OS based. This allows you to not only connect it to both systems, but it comes with built-in KM (Keyboard Mouse) switch.

I love the fact that I don’t even need to connect those devices to the hub itself, but can keep using the ones already attached to the system via other ports. Hit the hotkey or move the mouse across the edge of your screen and you’re on the other system.

Share files between the systems and the ability to move your mouse and keyboard from on to the other is just the beginning as you’re able to share your clipboard as well. Just cut or copy it on one system and paste it on the other. That is awesome.

The hub itself did show a slight decrease in transfer speed, but nothing that you’d notice in normal usage and nothing you should worry about.
