Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Sells Well on PS5 But Isn’t Among the Most Played
A couple of weeks ago, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was released on PS5. As you may know, it sold better during its first days on PlayStation than it did during its original release in December on Xbox Series and PC.
Despite its strong sales, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle did not make it into the top 15 most played games on PS5 during its launch week. According to data from analyst Matt Piscatella of Circana (thanks VGC), the game, even though it led sales, did not reach the level of playtime seen with live service games, which have continued to dominate the most-played lists for years.
Live Service Games Dominate the Market
“The big live-service games are sucking the air out of the market,” Piscatella explained, calling this a major challenge for the current console market. The most-played games list was topped by Call of Duty HQ — a platform that includes Warzone and the latest entries in the series. Other familiar games like Fortnite and Marvel Rivals also made the list. Recently added titles to PlayStation Plus, such as Hogwarts Legacy and RoboCop: Rogue City, also appeared.
Despite this, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was the best-selling game in the U.S. during its launch week, marking the first time it reached number one on the weekly charts. It’s worth noting that when it was released in December on Xbox and PC, it was available from day one on Xbox Game Pass, Microsoft’s subscription service.
