Intel 14A Is Its Biggest Technology Improvement Since 2012, Says CFO David Zinsner

Intel is currently working on the 14A manufacturing process, with which it aims to compete with TSMC. Now, Intel’s chief financial officer has said that it is the company’s biggest technology improvement since the 2012 node.

David Zinsner said during his appearance at the Deutsche Bank Technology Conference 2026 that the technology improvement Intel has achieved with the 14A manufacturing process has been the fastest since it launched the 22-nanometer node in 2012.

This is great news for Intel, as this process is a crucial part of the company’s roadmap. Just a couple of months ago, the company confirmed that the 14A process was expected to enter mass production in 2028.

Customer Interest Is Already Building Around Intel’s 14A Process

Intel 14A Is Its Biggest Technology Improvement Since 2012, Says CFO David Zinsner

This is not the first time Zinsner has spoken about this process. In 2025, the chief financial officer said that “if you look at 14A in terms of its maturity relative to 18A at that same point of maturity, we’re better in terms of performance and yield.”

However, this time he provided more details about it. During his appearance, Zinsner explained that Intel had already started designing the first 14A products. This is very important for Intel, as it would show that there is interest from customers in working with this process. This is something that will be key to measuring the success of Intel Foundry in the future.

In addition, it is worth remembering that Intel is already working on a second generation of this technology. Called 14A2, it is a variant that relies on the front and back of the chip for power delivery. This change is explained by the voltage drops experienced with the wires designed to carry signals inside the chip.
