Intel Arc A380 Shows Major Performance Boost in Cyberpunk 2077 With XeSS 3
The Intel Arc A380, a low-cost graphics card with 6 GB of VRAM, has recently shown a massive performance boost in Cyberpunk 2077 thanks to Intel XeSS 3 Multi-Frame Generation (MFG). With this technology enabled, the GPU was able to reach up to 140 FPS, something that previously seemed impossible for this kind of GPU.
Intel has given new life to its entry-level Arc GPU by improving its upscaling and frame generation technology. While XeSS 3 support was officially added in recent drivers, frame generation was initially limited to newer GPU architectures.
XeSS 3 Unlocks Major Performance Gains
Hardware enthusiast Alva Jonathan discovered that XeSS 3 frame generation can be enabled on Arc A-series GPUs and even on Intel integrated graphics by modifying driver libraries, specifically by swapping certain .dll files.
In testing at 1080p resolution with low settings, the Intel Arc A380 went from 55–60 FPS to an impressive 140 FPS when using x4 frame generation. This is a dramatic improvement for an entry-level GPU and shows the potential of XeSS 3 beyond officially supported hardware.
While the performance gain is significant, using x4 frame generation lowers the internal base frame rate, which can introduce extra latency. To address this, switching to x3 frame generation proved to be a better balance, delivering around 120 FPS with more natural responsiveness.
This development is great news not only for users with budget discrete GPUs, but also for owners of handheld gaming devices like the MSI Claw and laptops powered by Intel Core Ultra integrated graphics.
With XeSS 3, Intel aims to make high frame rates more accessible and provide a strong alternative to AMD’s FSR technology.
