Intel Arc B580 Gains Up to 30% More Performance with New Drivers
The Intel Arc B580 graphics card has just received a series of driver updates that significantly reduce the impact of “CPU overhead” in certain games. This translates into noticeable performance gains in specific configurations.
Intel Improves the Arc B580 with Driver Updates
Since its launch, one of the main criticisms of the Arc B580 was its weak performance when paired with “older” CPUs — even relatively recent ones, such as those based on Zen 3 architecture. In those cases, CPU overhead limited the GPU’s potential, causing sharp performance drops compared to competing graphics cards.
With driver version 7028, released in August, Intel has managed to reduce this negative effect in multiple titles. This allows the Arc B580 to perform much better, especially on systems with mid-range CPUs.
For example, in Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, performance jumped by more than 30% compared to the older 6000 driver series. Other games like Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, Dying Light: The Beast, Marvel Rivals, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, and Borderlands 4 also showed substantial improvements when tested with CPUs like the Ryzen 5 5600.
Price and Value in the Mid-Range Market
Not all combinations improved equally, and with older processors there are still overhead issues. However, the change is significant for users with mid-range hardware. On top of that, the Arc B580 is available for around $249 in many stores. It is currently the most affordable 12 GB card at that price point, making it an attractive option for gamers looking for solid performance without moving into higher tiers.
In conclusion, these new drivers show Intel’s commitment to improving GPU performance when paired with mid-range CPUs. It remains to be seen how future drivers will evolve and how much more performance Intel can unlock across different platforms.
