Intel Arc B770 Faces Possible Cancellation

Intel Arc B770 GPU

According to new rumors, Intel may cancel the Arc B770, its flagship consumer GPU based on the Battlemage architecture, despite the confirmed existence of the BMG-G31 chip. The future of Intel’s high-end gaming graphics card now looks increasingly uncertain.

The latest report comes from well-known leaker @SquashBionic, who claims that Intel could decide not to release the Arc B770 at all due to financial pressure and weaker-than-expected market demand. At the same time, Intel’s professional GPU division appears set to move forward, with the Arc Pro B70 expected to debut within this quarter.

While rumors around the Arc B770 have circulated for months, Intel has never made an official statement. The silicon clearly exists, but whether it will ever reach gamers remains an open question.

Low Profitability Is the Main Issue

According to sources, the main problem is poor profitability. Even though Intel has improved performance and value with previous models, the Arc B570 and Arc B580 failed to secure a meaningful share of the gaming GPU market. This disappointing result may have pushed Intel to rethink its consumer strategy.

The Arc B770 was meant to compete in the lower mid-range, going up against GPUs such as the RTX 5060 Ti and Radeon RX 9060 XT. However, it may not offer enough financial return to justify a full launch. Even if released, expectations for strong competition with NVIDIA and AMD remain modest.

The situation looks very different on the professional side. Intel appears ready to fully commit to Battlemage workstation GPUs, where margins are higher and demand is more stable.

The Arc Pro B70, expected later this quarter, uses the BMG-G31 chip and features 32 Xe2 cores and 32 GB of GDDR6 memory. This makes it well suited for professional workloads such as rendering, simulation, and AI tasks.

Alongside the Pro B70, Intel is also expected to release the Arc Pro B65 and at least one other professional variant. This confirms that the BMG-G31 was designed to power three workstation GPUs and one consumer model — even if that consumer card never makes it to market.
