If you are interested in the performance of the upcoming Core i7-7700K “Kaby Lake” processor by Intel, then you’ll be glad to know that someone went ahead and paired this processor up with an ASRock Z270-Extreme4 motherboard and ran some SiSoft SANDRA 2015 CPU tests. Even though the chip in question might have been an engineering sample, it looks like its clock speeds match the ones from the lineup that was revealed not too long ago, namely 4.20 GHz regularly and 4.50 GHz with Turbo Boost. Other important details of the Core i7-7700K “Kaby Lake” include Hyper-Threading capabilities and a L3 cache of 8MB.
Now for the actual test results, this processor managed to put out a SANDRA 2015 “Processor Arithmetic” score of 151.94 GOPS as well as a “Processor Multimedia” score 379.8 Mpix/s. When compared to the Core i7-6700K “Skylake,” the differences are not exactly groundbreaking, as this processor was able to yield 140.88 GOPS in “Processor Arithmetic” and 353.8 Mpix/s in “Processor Multimedia” tests at 4.00 GHz stock speeds and 4.20 GHz Turbo Boost. Intel will likely launch its 7th generation Core processor family later in the year alongside its 200 series chipset, but it’s worth noting that “Kaby Lake” will still be based on the 14 nm manufacturing process, just like its “Skylake” and “Broadwell” predecessors.
