Intel Is Already Testing 24- and 28-Core Nova Lake-S Processors With AVX-512 Support
We have already talked today about the Nova Lake-S processors, Intel’s upcoming CPUs that will introduce the chip giant’s new cores. More news continues to appear about this next series of Intel processors, with the company reportedly already testing 24- and 28-core versions. In addition, they will come with the AVX-512 instruction set enabled.
Intel is already testing at least two of these models, with 24 and 28 cores, which have appeared in Intel GFX Linux logs. They have been identified as Intel Corporation Nova Lake Client Platform / NVL-S, with a CPUID of 300F15 and the same BIOS for both, dated July 16.
Intel Begins Testing Nova Lake-S CPUs With Up to 28 Cores and AVX-512
More specifically, the first model, bat-nvls-1, is running on an “NVL-S UDIMM 1DPC eDP CRB Fab2” motherboard. This model has 24 cores and 24 threads, along with a base clock speed of 3.4 GHz. It matches the previously seen 8+12+4 core configuration.
The second model, bat-nvls-2, has appeared on an NVL-S UDIMM 1DPC OC EVCRB motherboard. This model has 28 cores and 28 threads, with a base clock speed of 3.2 GHz. Here we find an 8+16+4 core configuration, giving a total of 28 cores.
It seems the rumors are true and Nova Lake-S will bring back AVX-512 instructions, as support has appeared in the logs through XSAVE.
Intel is preparing to introduce the first Nova Lake-S processors in 2026 with these new cores, followed by their rumored availability in the first quarter of 2027. According to rumors, the chip giant will launch new models with more cores and cache, reaching up to 52 cores and 144 MB of cache, during the second quarter of next year.
