Intel’s upcoming enthusiast architecture codenamed Kaby Lake is the successor to Skylake and supports existing LGA1151 motherboards. During the past few weeks, motherboard vendors have released BIOS updates to prepare for Kaby Lake processors and ensure consumers can easily upgrade their current setup. Given the timing of this, some users tried to predict the architecture’s launch date and small leaks have given us an insight into the performance benefits. Recently, a number of retailers began to unveil the pricing of the i7-7700K and i5-7600K as well as the release date.
According to GDM.OR.JP, both chips will be available to consumers on the 5th January with the official launch occurring during CES 2017. Not only that, it seems the i7-7700K will have a recommended price of $349 while the i5-7600K should cost $239. Please note, these are only estimated prices for the USA market. As a result, retailers may charge significantly more to cope with demand or low supplies. It’s important to remember that the i7-6700K remains extremely expensive in the UK and often hovers around the £340 mark. At least, we’re beginning to get an idea of the pricing and release date. Hopefully, AMD can deliver with Zen and begin to instigate more competitive pricing in the enthusiast CPU market.
