Intel May Extend LGA 1700 Support With Another Raptor Lake Refresh in 2027
It looks like Intel is serious about keeping the LGA 1700 platform alive. Even though the company has already refreshed Arrow Lake with the Intel Core Ultra 200S Plus lineup, another update is reportedly being planned for a later date. According to well-known leaker Jaykihn, who shared the information in response to a discussion on X/Twitter, Intel is preparing another update based on this architecture.
According to these reports, Intel plans to continue extending the life of the LGA 1700 platform, which first launched with the 12th generation processors.
Intel Could Keep LGA 1700 Alive
This new refresh is expected to arrive in 2027, which means there is still about a year left before launch. For this update, Intel is said to continue using its Intel 7 manufacturing process, showing its ongoing support for a platform that has already proven to be long-lasting and flexible.
It has also been reported that this refresh may not include flagship Core i9 models. This suggests Intel could focus on mid-range processors, possibly aimed at OEM system builders or business customers, where stability and compatibility remain important.
Even though Intel already has the LGA 1851 socket and plans to move it forward with Nova Lake, the LGA 1700 socket has already supported several processor generations. These include Alder Lake (12th generation), Raptor Lake (13th generation), and Raptor Lake Refresh (14th generation). In addition, some Meteor Lake-S based versions have also been used for edge and embedded systems on the same socket.
With this new revision, Intel appears ready to continue making use of a well-established platform in the market, extending its life for a few more years with another Raptor Lake Refresh release.
