The storage benchmark in PCMark 8 tests the performance of SSDs, HDDs, and SSHDs with traces recorded from Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office and a selection of games. You can test any recognised storage device, including external drives. Unlike synthetic storage tests, the PCMark 8 Storage benchmark highlights real-world performance differences between storage devices.
All setups are based on the same drive image. It was cloned to each drive for comparable results.
