Intel Plans Cheaper Arc G3 Processor for Handheld Gaming Consoles With 8 CPU Cores and 4 Xe3 GPU Cores

During the last COMPUTEX, we saw Intel‘s new processors for handheld consoles, the Arc G3 Series. The range includes two models, with the Extreme model standing out as the most powerful of the two. However, rumors say that Intel plans to offer a third model in the Arc G3 Series, adding an entry-level option with a much lighter configuration.

The Intel Arc G3 and Arc G3 Extreme both have 14 cores, with a small difference in their GPUs. The more powerful model has 12 Xe3 Cores, while the “basic” model reduces this to 10 Xe3 Cores in its integrated GPU. Apart from this main difference, there are only small changes in CPU and/or GPU speeds. However, the model Intel plans to introduce would reduce these specifications to just 8 CPU cores and 4 GPU cores, offering a much cheaper option for users who want to spend less.

Intel Plans an Entry-Level Arc G3 Processor for Handheld Consoles

Known leaker Jaykhin shared a short post on X/Twitter stating that this new model will have a 4+0+4+4 core configuration. This means 4 high-performance cores, 4 ultra-low-power cores, and 4 Xe3 cores for the integrated GPU.

Unlike the Arc G3 and G3 Extreme, which have 2 high-performance cores, this model would offer twice as many of these cores while reducing the number of high-efficiency cores to zero. The current G3 and G3 Extreme therefore have 2+8+4+10 and 2+8+4+12 configurations, respectively.

This 4+0+4+4 configuration has already appeared in some Intel laptop processors, so it would not be unusual to bring it to handheld gaming consoles and offer it at a good entry-level price.

For now, there is no more information about this possible launch. We will have to wait for new leaks to learn more details, such as clock speeds or memory support, if it finally launches as another option in Intel’s Arc G3 Series.
