Intel Replaces Core Ultra 9 285K Premium Box With Simpler Packaging
Intel is replacing the elaborate “premium” box of the Core Ultra 9 285K with a much simpler cardboard package. This change was revealed through a Product Change Notification (PCN), which confirms that the processor will now ship in a more compact and minimalist box.
The original packaging stood out thanks to its eye-catching design, textured graphics, and large dimensions of 165 × 150 × 64 mm. The new version switches to a dark, minimal box where only the product name is highlighted. Its size has been reduced to 116 × 101 × 44 mm, which represents a volume reduction of around 65%. This allows Intel to fit many more processors per pallet, lowering shipping costs and reducing the carbon footprint per unit.
Smaller Box, Lower Costs
By switching to a simpler and smaller package, Intel can improve logistics efficiency. Sending more units in the same space means fewer shipments are needed, which directly reduces transport expenses and environmental impact. This move follows a growing trend in the industry, where companies focus less on flashy packaging and more on practical and sustainable solutions.
Despite the new packaging, Intel has confirmed that the processor inside remains exactly the same. The material master number does not change, so buyers will still get the same Core Ultra 9 285K with its 24 cores and 3 nm technology.
This kind of adjustment usually happens months after launch, once the initial hype has passed. The Core Ultra 9 285K remains the flagship of the Arrow Lake generation, which is expected to receive a refresh later this year.
