Test System and Programs


We use the below software to run our benchmarks, tests and calculations that are part of our CPU reviews. For a more detailed overview of each test please refer to each individual page of the review where more details are provided. All the methods settings and procedures are held constant for all CPUs included in the graphs, in this case that is just the Core i7 4770K and Xeon E3-1230Lv3. This means all results are comparable and the only changed testing parameter is the CPU.

  • Processor – Intel Core i7 4770K (Stock with Turbo enabled) and Intel Xeon E3-1230Lv3 (Stock with Turbo Enabled)
  • RAM – Corsair Vengeance Pro 1333MHz 9-9-9-9-24 (2 x 8GB)
  • Graphics Card – XFX HD 7970 @ Stock Clocks
  • CPU Cooler – Corsair H100i with Quiet Fan Profile and Noctua NT-H1 Thermal Paste
  • Power Supply – Corsair HX1050W
  • Main Storage Drive – Kingston HyperX 240GB SSD over SATA III interface
  • Chassis – Lian Li T60 Test Bench
  • Displays – Dell U2711 Ultra Sharp
  • Operating System – Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit

  1. max power draw for the i7 is about 315w for the whole system? and you use a 1000w power supply, which is then 30% used and therefore out of its efficient operating zone. Could save money by using a smaller power supply also.
