New CPU cores usually make their debut in server products before later reaching desktop CPUs. This time, Intel seems ready to do the opposite, with its new cores set to appear first in Nova Lake desktop processors before arriving in the company’s next Xeon solutions. Robert Hallock himself has confirmed this approach, which is the opposite of AMD’s strategy with Zen 6, which debuted first with EPYC Venice.
This seems to further support Intel’s plans to launch Nova Lake in 2026, with the desktop versions apparently arriving first. However, Hallock did not confirm which cores Intel will use, their names, or any of their features. He only said that these new cores will first arrive with Nova Lake processors for desktop PCs.

Intel’s new cores will not be limited to desktop systems. They are also expected to appear later in laptop processors and may even be used in a new generation of CPUs for handheld consoles. They will also make their way into Intel’s next-generation Xeon processors, although it is still unknown when they will appear across the other processors Intel has planned for 2027.
Intel wants to keep its promise of introducing Nova Lake-S in 2026, although rumors claim that the first models using a single CPU tile may become available in early 2027. Other consumer processors could appear during the second and third quarters, including the rumored model with 52 cores and extended bLLC cache. This processor is expected to target the high end of the consumer market and should give us an idea of what Intel’s new CPU cores are capable of.
