IO Interactive Confirms More Hitman Games Are Coming After 007: First Light
IO Interactive, the studio behind the Hitman series, is currently working on 007: First Light, a new game focused on a young version of James Bond. While the developer is known for Agent 47’s adventures, many fans are wondering whether this new project means the end for Hitman.
The CEO Speaks About the Future of Hitman
The company’s CEO, Hakan Abrak, addressed this question during an interview with Variety. He assured fans that new Hitman content will arrive in due time, and that Agent 47 is not being retired.
“So of course there will be more ‘Hitman,’” Abrak confirmed. “But right now, I think we need to get to the other side of this year and next year you’ll get more news about ‘Hitman’ co-op, because I think co-op is a really, really good extension to the universe, and will introduce very interesting mechanics and combinations in ‘World of Assassination.’ But we will, after that, be talking about the next ‘Hitman’ — because, of course, there’s going to be a next ‘Hitman.’”
What’s Next for IO Interactive
007: First Light is set to launch in March 2026. So, updates about Hitman will likely follow after that release. Still, Hitman: World of Assassination continues to receive new content, such as Elusive Targets. The most recent one features Eminem (as Slim Shady) teaming up with Agent 47, while a few months earlier, Bruce Lee appeared as a guest character.
Behind the scenes, IO Interactive is also developing a third project called Project Fantasy, which remains a mystery but is described by the team as “extremely ambitious.”
